Before You Try to Lose Another 20lbs

#Before You Try to Lose Another 20 Pounds

Before you set another weight-loss goal, ask yourself one important question:

**What am I actually hoping will change when I lose the weight?**

More energy? Better health? More confidence? Greater strength and mobility? Feeling better in your clothes? Being able to keep up with your kids or grandkids? In this final episode of the **Rethinking Weight Loss** series, we're stepping back from the number on the scale and looking at what you're really trying to accomplish. Because the scale can give us useful information—but it doesn't tell the whole story. In this episode, we're talking about: - Why weight loss and improved health aren't always the same thing - The difference between simply losing weight and losing excess body fat while preserving lean muscle - Why muscle matters for strength, mobility, metabolic health, and healthy aging - Other signs of progress you may be overlooking when the scale isn't moving - How nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, hormones, habits, and mindset work together - Why your confidence, acceptance, and worth can't come from a number on the scale - What it means to care for your health from a place of stewardship rather than appearance -

The bigger question to ask yourself: **What do I want to be healthy enough to show up for?** Weight loss can absolutely be part of improving your health—but it isn't the whole picture. The goal isn't simply to become smaller. It's to build a body and a life that allow you to have the energy, strength, mobility, and health to continue doing the things you love and showing up for the people and purpose God has placed in your life. So before you try to lose another 10, 20, or 30 pounds, take a moment to think beyond the scale. **What kind of health are you actually trying to build?** And what is one healthy step you can take toward it today? --- ### In This Series **Part 1:** Understanding metabolism and what actually influences it

**Part 2:** Are You Eating Enough to Support Your Goals?

**Part 3:** Before You Try to Lose Another 20 Pounds --- I recently taught my **Beyond the Scale: A Smarter Approach to Health & Weight Management** class, where I brought many of these pieces together into a more comprehensive approach to healthy weight management. That class has already taken place, but I'll be offering another one in the future—so keep an eye out...or since you're listening to a podcast, **keep an ear out!** Until next time, remember: **You don't have to change everything today. Just take the next healthy step.** Small steps add up. They matter. Have a great week and be blessed.
